Nature Exploration Classes

Through interactive programs like nature days, family nights, and adult workshops, the RRWC ignites curiosity in all ages through engaging classes on diverse topics like agriculture, sustainability, and wildlife. These experiences foster a deeper connection with the natural world, inspiring responsible actions to protect our local environment.

Adult Classes - Ages 15 and older

Master Rain Gardener - Manchester

Become a Master Rain Gardener – April 2025 In-person class!

 

This Spring 2025 class will be every Friday afternoon, April 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th and May 2nd at 1:00-3:30, office hours 12:00-1:00.

Classes will be held at Manchester District Library  (912 City Rd, Manchester, MI 48158). Optional field trips and plant swap opportunities will be available to students.

 

There will be homework. Potluck style snacks provided by staff and classmates!

 

Limit to 20 students.​

Gardener

Tree Identification Training Class​

Join us this April as Michigan bursts into spring, and learn to confidently identify the common trees that shape our beautiful landscapes based on bark and buds!

April 4th, 2025 from 6 - 7pm

Bicentenial Park

5626 Tipton Hwy, Adrian, MI 

 

This introductory course is designed for all levels of knowledge, from complete beginners to those looking to refine their skills. We welcome anyone interested in learning more about the trees around them. We'll focus on practical skills and knowledge, equipping you to recognize trees using a variety of characteristics.

Prescribed Burn Workshop

Explore the science and practice of prescribed burns in tallgrass prairie ecosystems. This workshop offers a unique opportunity to witness a controlled burn and understand its ecological benefits. Learn about safety precautions, tools of the trade, and the fundamental principles of fire science. This event is designed for adults seeking practical knowledge for land management.

Please Note: The live burn is subject to weather conditions. Confirmation of the burn on the 19th will be provided close to the event. The backup date is the 26th. In the event of unsuitable weather on the 19th, an informative presentation on prescribed burn techniques will be conducted.

Join us for an engaging introduction to the world of birdwatching!

This class is perfect for beginners and anyone curious about the fascinating birds in our local environment. You'll learn the essential skills for identifying birds by sight and sound, gaining a deeper appreciation for their diverse lives.

Important Note: We will provide binoculars for sharing among participants. However, if you own binoculars, we strongly encourage you to bring them for a more personalized experience.
