Boy Scout Clean-Up 2006

Monroe County Boy Scout Canoe Clean-Up 2006

River Clean-upOn Saturday, September 9th the Monroe County Boy Scouts partnered with the County Parks Commission and held their 4th annual canoe clean-up. The group of 35 Boy Scouts successfully removed 9 canoes full of trash from the River Raisin. The boys had a great time removing items such as a commercial grade air conditioner, an iron, and more common items including traffic barrels, bottles, cans, metal pipes, electronics, furniture, cushions, tires, auto parts, and bikes. Although they got dirty in the process, one Boy Scout exclaimed that this was the best canoe trip ever. The Scouts should be commended for their participation in this clean-up event and their willingness to devote time to such an important cause. They will be looking for other environmentally minded projects in the future.
